A little too complicated
Well made & well polished go without saying, and once you get the hang of it it is quite fun to play.
As far as the instructions go, splattering the screen like that obviously has the benefit of speed but it was a little confusing, an in-game integrated may have been a better option for a more complicated game like this.
I definately found the game too hard to start with, and I'm not trolling you, I just think you just overloaded the user with to many things to co-ordiante and control to begin with, which may be a good idea as the user gets better but not necesarily from the get go. You should try and ease the player into the game a bit more and let them feel some sense of acheivement so that they can become hooked.
I'm curious as to the fact that this was sponsored by kongregate, doesn't seem like the kind of game their audience would go for, but I could be wrong.

Inspired by a great game and you did it justice, graphics are so awesome I just love that style its unique and fun. Gameplay is good, this deserves front page.
So simple yet so well executed. The concept is fresh and original, the graphics and animations are slick, the shake effect on the screen is superb and gives great feedback to the player. I really can't fault this game in any way, just, yeh, absolutely awesome, favourited, bookmarked, 5'd....awesome work.
The game doesn't actually appear to work?
I pressed space to skip the intro animation on stage one, and all I see is 2 borders and an empty white screen. It could be because I don't have the most recent flash player, if so there should be some kind of warning.

Great, fun game to play, awesome graphics and very well put together.
This kept me wanting to play, and thats exactly what a game should do, so congrats on that.
The only noticible fault i could pick was the AI, the way the enemies rotated to follow you exactly at all times was i dunno....a bit unrealistic and made it a little too difficult, having the ability to strafe and move around faster than your enemies would make the game a lot more enjoyable i think, so changing your code in future games to have even just a delayed rotation towards the player could improve the gameplay alot.
Anyway, well done and hope to see heaps more of your work soon.
Not evryone will appreciate how much effort you put into this, but to code what you did takes alot of effort, not too mention level design and the slick graphics.
It really does deserve a better score.
There were some fundamental mistakes though I believe. One small but big thing is having to press space to start a level and then a to try again....really frustrating.....it should be the same button for both.
The timing. Now I know this is a big part of the game, but it rushes people through each level and even when they finish it...if they're under par they get no sense of accomplishment. Maybe you should have the timer as just a small part of it and make finishing the level the main part.
All in all a great game....you're an awesome programmer and game designer but you need to focus more on making you're games more fun and enjoyable...hope to see more from you.
It goes without saying- awesome graphics and the syncing is so damn good.
I think though at the same time, the score goes to show that flashy graphics and animation don't make a good game- the game play was just crap - too touchy and just really annoying and it was far too hard.
So original and well made....puts a lot of games to shame.
They don't come much better than jmtb02...
What can I say, that would have to be one of the most original and well made games that I've seen for a very long time..jealous is a word that comes to mind as a game designer lol.
But seriously, a great concept, reminds me of those mini games in mario party where you have to trace..I dunno if that inspired you.
The only reason I gave it 9 and not 10 is the controls. It was frustrating to have to stop tracing...click an enemy...trace...click an enemy and so on. I think the game play could be improved a lot by including a separate cross hair controlled by wasd so that the player can keep tracing while getting enemies. I personally think that was the factor that lead it to get a good but not awesome score that it obviously deserved.
